A New Rew

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

I went salsa dancing. Kind of a big deal. It was..okay. April and I both got asked a few times, but mostly just moved our feet the whole time. Bambi decided to hit her car-scary!

I agreed to a blind date with Richard G Scott...only he's 22 and not an apostle.

My dear friend M Rachel called today and I decided she was much more important than work and I would have hated myself if I hadn't answered that call. She lives in Oklahoma nowadays playing the softballs. Man, it was good to hear her voice!

I invested in mineral makeup today and decided I will stop putting off getting a "Glamour Shot" done. See, my grandma gave me $100 bucks last year for my birthday to get this done and I...well, I've been putting it off. BUT the New Rew [feels bad for wasting G-ma's money and] has no fears!

Shtrangers and Shrooms

Saturday, September 13, 2008

Yesterday, I had a dream about my friend Trent. He's on a mission in CA. Whenever I have a dream about someone (that I am comfortable sharing), I will call that person up and use it as an excuse to talk to them. Welp, if I remember right, he is about due to be home. I used all my courage to get myself over to his parent's house. I pumped myself up and got ready to make a fool of myself. I knock on the door while thinking "That [dog] is not Shasta" and "Who is this guy answering the door?" Sheepishly, I ask if Trent is home. "No, he's out with his brother". HE IS HOME? I couldn't believe it. A sign from heaven that we are meant to be friends. I definitely would have regretted not going over.

The Colors Concert! Last week, I bought Bubba a surprise (another NO REGRETS thing). I texted him and he made me give him a hint. He totally guessed it! I had gotten him a Ghostbusters shirt. He loves it. I was so comfortable around him. It was like nothing had ever happened, when really we hadn't seen in each other in 6 months and the last time we talked in person, it was rough times. It was better that way- at the time. Glad we're good now (the concert was awesome, p.s.)! We sat by each other and were total backup singers "with harmonies THEY didn't even think of!"

After the concert, we went to this waffle place where Bubba shared his Garbage Hash with me- I even ate mushrooms. I know, I'm a new person! No Roo=No Blues.

Licking Specialist

Thursday, September 11, 2008

I have taken this new attitude of NO REGRETS to a new level. Now I am making money as well. Read on...

A few coworkers and I frequently go out to eat. My old supervisor loves to make bets. I jumped right on her $20 offer this time, not even knowing what it would entail. Last time, I passed up making $20 for eating 4 limes (My poor friend who took the cash broke up some kidney stones she didn't know existed, forcing them out..a painful hidden blessing).

"You must LICK the window/front door of the restaurant. I have to be able to see you. You have to lick from the top of your tippy toes to the very bottom where the glass meets the metal on the door." It was a new Thai restaurant in Provo and the window looked clean. What better way to say "Welcome to Provo" than to give them a wet, unique greeting...? You can imagine how AWKWARD it is to lick from the top of something to the bottom. Well, I no longer have to imagine. My coworkers were still in the restaurant and told me of the responses of other customers--"Sick!" "I'm never coming back." and "Did that girl just....ugh." Awesome.

Then we get in the car to head to her bank for my cash. "I'll give you another 50% to do it again at the bank-a BOGO of sorts (buy one get one)." Hmmm, would you do it? She goes inside and we watch as she speaks with other customers and employees of the bank. She comes out and tells me, "They said it is legal and yes, they will be getting this on security tape to rewind and watch later." Ready Go!!

And then I get limped. Game over.

Going Green

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Today I got a facial. I faced my fears and did it. I was ridiculously surprised how incredible it was! I was comfortable, relaxed...and my zits are gonna disappear (hopefully). I've started using some awesome natural cleansers and stuff.

Then I decided that I have always wanted to help my teeth along the whitening path, so I invested in a little Crest kit from Costco. Might as well clear up my face and teeth.

Just another Roo

Today I decided I am going to Australia. I have wanted to go since I was pretty much born. Now, it feels right and I'm going to do it. I emailed the Study Abroad Dept at Utah State to get some questions answered. We'll see!

You Can Steer

Monday, Sept 8, 2008

Today I was feeling a little overwhelmed so I went for a drive. My car took me up Provo Canyon and eventually to my brother's cabin in Sundance. A song by Missy Higgins (Australian artist) came on. I've never felt so much freedom! Click here to listen or read below for the lyrics:

"Feel it falling off like clothing
Taste it rolling on your tongue
See the lights above you glowing
Oh and breathe them deep into your lungs

It was always simple, not hidden hard
You've been pulling on the strings
Playing puppeteer for kings
And you've had enough

But the search ends here
Where the night is totally clear

And your heart is fierce
So now you finally know
That you control where you go
You can steer

So hold this feeling like a newborn
All the freedom surging through your veins
You have opened up a new door
So bring on the wind, fire and rain

It was always simple, not hidden hard
You've been played at a game
Called remembering your name
And you stuffed it up

...And get out of the box
And step into the clear

Cause now you finally know
That you can steer"

I decided at that point that I can steer. I am the boss of me. From now on, I will live my life with NO REGRETS! When something enters my mind (and is reasonable, wholesome, etc), I will DO IT. I hung out with my brother and his girlfriend the rest of the night and had an awesome time, enjoying my new attitude.
